The Grille at Lakeshore is family-owned and operated by the Barclift family, with over 45 years of combined restaurant, bar, event, and business experience. Originally from Athens, Georgia, Chef Robert Barclift has called Chattanooga home for years — building The Grille into one of the city's most beloved dining destinations.

With deep roots in classical French culinary technique, Chef Barclift brings a disciplined, ingredient-first approach to every plate. His philosophy is simple: start with the freshest locally sourced ingredients, apply time-tested technique, and let the food speak for itself.

Everything is made in-house from scratch with the finest ingredients — from hand-cut steaks and fresh seafood to house-made sauces and daily specials. Every dish reflects a genuine passion for feeding people well.

A Lakefront Destination

Since 2013, The Grille at Lakeshore has been Chattanooga's premier lakefront dining experience. Perched above Lakeshore Marina with panoramic views of Chickamauga Lake, it offers something no other spot in the city can.

Rustic wood booths line the windows overlooking the marina, the hand-finished bar glows under industrial pendant lights, and the outdoor deck stretches toward the water with string lights overhead. Whether it's a weeknight dinner, Sunday brunch, or drinks on the patio, the atmosphere is relaxed, warm, and unmistakably Lakeshore.

We're proud to serve first responders, military, and the boating community — and we always welcome four-legged friends on the patio.

The People Behind the Plates

Behind every dish at The Grille is a tight-knit crew that treats the kitchen like family. Executive Chef Robert Barclift leads a team of talented chefs who bring passion and precision to every service.

Chef Francisco and Ana bring incredible depth and creativity to the kitchen alongside Chef de Cuisine Aaron Bray and sous chef Jacob McDaniel. Together, they make everything from scratch — every sauce, every prep, every plate — using only the finest ingredients.
